Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) Presents 27th Edition of Ecomondo: Leading Green Transition with Innovation, Technology

Algiers- Algeria, May 16, 2024 – In a press release, the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) unveiled plans for the 27th edition of Ecomondo, renowned as Europe and the Mediterranean basin’s premier event for the green and circular economy. Set to take place from November 5th to 8th at Rimini Expo Centre, Ecomondo is poised to advance the objectives of the European Green Deal by emphasizing innovation, technology, and the adoption of best practices to drive the green transition and future economic growth.
Focus on Innovation and Technology
The 27th edition of Ecomondo will provide an expanded thematic program, placing a significant emphasis on innovation and technology for the prevention and mitigation of climate change through the utilization of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). With climate change posing one of the most critical global challenges, Ecomondo is committed to showcasing cutting-edge solutions to address it effectively.
Covering an extensive 137,000 square meters of floor space, Ecomondo will now accommodate two new temporary halls to meet the growing demand from companies. It’s anticipated that about 900 buyers and industrial and institutional delegations from the Balkan area, Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America will attend, underscoring the event’s international significance.
Sustainability and ecological transition are pivotal for the competitiveness of Italian companies in foreign markets. In 2023, Italian exports, driven by sustainability, exceeded 660 billion euros. This year, the figure is expected to rise by a further 10%, highlighting the increasing momentum of transition processes.
Europe’s International Reference Event
After achieving record-breaking success last year, Ecomondo 2024 reaffirms its role as Europe and the Mediterranean basin’s international reference event for technologies, services, and industrial solutions in the green and circular economy sectors. It will serve as a research and innovation hub, providing a platform for experts, decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and sector professionals to discuss challenges and opportunities linked to environmental policy and the transition towards a circular economy.
The main themes at Ecomondo 2024 will revolve around Big Data, artificial intelligence, and predictive systems for ecological transition and climate change management. Additionally, themes like the new space economy, agriculture 4.0, and urban mining will be explored. These themes will complement the six core thematic macro-areas, covering aspects such as waste as a resource, water cycle, circular bio-economy, and environmental monitoring.
The exhibition layout will undergo a renewal and extension, with the addition of two new temporary halls, bringing the total area to 137,000 square meters. The event will feature five exhibition districts, including areas dedicated to textiles, paper, and the blue economy.
Ecomondo 2024 will host a series of conferences, seminars, and events coordinated by an 80-member Technical-Scientific Committee. These discussions will explore technological, regulatory, and market innovations in key sectors of the green economy.
This year’s event will once again host the States General of the Green Economy, organized by the Sustainable Development Foundation and promoted by the National Council for the Green Economy in cooperation with the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security.
Ecomondo 2024 is organized by Italian Exhibition Group in collaboration with various institutions, including the European Commission, the Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security, and the Emilia-Romagna Regional Authority.
