Italy-Africa Summit: Algerian FM Attaf Holds Talks with Counterparts

ALGIERS- On Monday in Rome, Italy, Ahmed Attaf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, engaged in a series of meetings with his counterparts from Benin, Mauritania, Tunisia, Madagascar, and Côte d’Ivoire. He participated in these discussions while representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the Italy-Africa Summit, according to a statement from the ministry.
The discussions primarily focused on “relations between Algeria and these brotherly states and ways to enhance them at the highest levels,” the statement added.
These meetings also provided an opportunity for consultation and coordination on the issues on the summit’s agenda. Additionally, they addressed recent international and regional developments and the common challenges facing African states and peoples, according to the same source.
In a separate meeting, Minister Attaf met with Amy Pope, the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (OIM). During this encounter, he reiterated Algeria’s support and expressed full readiness to continue joint efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two parties, the statement concluded.
