Joint Efforts to Ensure Availability of Consumer Goods: Zitouni and Cherfa Unveil New Collaborative Plan

ALGIERS- In their ongoing commitment to secure the availability of consumer goods in the market, especially in anticipation of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan, the Minister of Commerce, Tayeb Zitouni, and his counterpart in agriculture, Youcef Cherfa, held a coordination meeting on Tuesday. The meeting, attended by officials from both ministries, focused on ensuring the availability, supply, and development of the distribution system for various consumer goods.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce, the participants shared the on-the-ground results achieved by each ministry to address shortcomings and collaboratively outlined a roadmap to ensure the continuous supply of widely consumed products while monitoring prices.
During the meeting, the ministers announced the adoption of a new joint plan between the two sectors, ensuring product availability and contributing to the development of the supply system and the organization of the national market.
Preserving Purchasing Power
Emphasizing proactive measures to supply the national market with local and imported products, the ministers aim to eliminate disruptions and achieve price stability for all products during periods of high demand across the country.
Both ministers underscored that the primary objective of this approach is to protect the purchasing power of citizens, aligning with the directives of the President of the Republic. This strategic collaboration seeks to ensure a smooth flow of consumer goods, particularly as the holy month of Ramadan approaches, a period marked by increased demand for various products.
