Kim Jin-Pyo, President of National Assembly of South Korea: “Algeria is our Sole Strategic Partner in Africa”

ALGIERS- The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of South Korea, Mr. Kim Jin-Pyo, spoke on Sunday after being received in Algiers by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
According to Mr. Jin-Pyo, the relations between Algeria and South Korea have significantly improved in recent years, reaching a new level of international partnership within the framework of the UN Security Council, especially since both countries hold positions as non-permanent members.
“Algeria is the sole strategic partner of South Korea in Africa, also the third trading partner on the continent. The volume of trade between the two countries has not been affected even during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.

The same official also highlighted the significance of his visit to Algeria, the first of its kind in 13 years: “This visit is of great importance for both countries because we were able to discuss with President Tebboune several issues of common interest and also the strengthening of cooperation and partnership between the two countries,” he added.
The President of the South Korean Parliament also praised the economic reforms initiated by President Tebboune: “These reforms have produced tangible results on the ground, and South Korea is associated with this process, especially in the field of manufacturing industries,” he emphasized.
Finally, Mr. Jin-Pyo invited President Tebboune to participate in the Africa-Korea Summit scheduled for July in Seoul: “I have asked for Algeria’s support for the realization of the peace process in Korea,” he added.
