ALGIERS- Moroccan activists residing in France have expressed their discontent with the country’s monarch, King Mohammed VI, by hanging banners in front of one of his palaces in the French suburb of Betz. The banners featured a picture of the King’s ex-wife, Princess Lalla Salma, and a large piece of cloth that read, “Long live the people.”

The Betz Palace, where the demonstration took place, is a quiet retreat that King Mohammed VI often visits for his private vacations. The palace was acquired by his father, the late King Hassan II, in 1972 from a wealthy French woman who had transformed it into a luxurious hotel. The palace, which extends over 70 hectares, consists of two buildings built by King Hassan II and two trailers of European high-speed trains, in honor of his late father, King Mohammed V, who had traveled on board.

The demonstration in front of the Betz Palace is a clear indication of the growing discontent among Moroccans with the King’s management of the country. The activist who led the protest expressed his rejection of the King’s policies and his desire for change. The demonstration has sparked a debate among Moroccans about the role of the monarchy in the country’s political and social landscape.

It is important to note that the demonstration was peaceful and did not result in any violence or damage to property. The protesters exercised their right to free speech and peaceful assembly, which is a fundamental right in any democratic society. The demonstration also highlights the importance of freedom of expression and the need for open and honest dialogue between the government and its citizens.

King Mohammed VI of Morocco, the twenty-third king of the Alawite Filalian dynasty, has been ruling the country since 1999. Born in Rabat on August 21, 1963, he holds postgraduate degrees in law and political science. The king’s love for luxury and grandeur is reflected in his ownership of several palaces in Morocco and abroad.

The Rabat Palace, located in the Moroccan capital, is the official residence of the king and the place where he receives his guests. The palace boasts a unique blend of Andalusian and Moroccan architecture, picturesque gardens, water fountains, and a collection of artistic and historical works.

The Ifrane Palace, situated in the Atlas Mountains, is a serene retreat where the king spends his holidays amidst the green and snowy nature. The palace offers a refreshing atmosphere, sports courts, swimming pools, and luxurious rooms.

The Tangier Palace, located on the Mediterranean coast, is a place where the king goes to relax and entertain himself. The palace is renowned for its panoramic views of the city and the sea, a beautiful mosque, a vast library, and ceremonial halls.

The Marrakech Palace, situated in one of Morocco’s most important tourist cities, is a stunning display of oriental splendor and Islamic motifs. The palace houses a museum of Moroccan art, a botanical garden, and an ancient clock tower, attracting visitors from all over the world.

The Tetouan Palace, located in the city of Tetouan, is a vibrant example of the harmony between the Maghreb and Andalusian cultures. The palace’s cheerful colors and various decorations are a sight to behold, with wonderful reception halls and elegant bedrooms.

King Mohammed VI of Morocco is also the owner of several palaces in Europe that are a testament to his immense wealth and opulence. One such palace is his luxurious mansion in Paris, which boasts a breathtaking view of the iconic Eiffel Tower. This magnificent property, spanning an impressive 1,600 square meters, was acquired by the King in 2020 and dates back to 1912.

These palaces are adorned with a stunning collection of art, antiques, and exquisite furnishings, and are heavily guarded and distinguished. King Mohammed VI frequently visits these palaces, particularly during holidays and vacations, and hosts guests from the political, cultural, and social spheres.

All these castles while Moroccans suffer from poverty, unemployment, and lack of access to basic necessities

Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has been known for his opulent lifestyle, including luxurious castles in Paris. These castles have been reported to be worth millions of dollars and are located in some of the most prime areas in the French capital. The king spends a significant amount of his time in these castles, where he is surrounded by expensive artwork, exquisite furnishings, and a staff of dozens to cater to his every need.

The lavish life that the king leads in his Parisian castles has further fueled public anger and drawn criticism from Moroccans who feel that such extravagance is inappropriate. While King Mohammed VI indulges in his extravagant lifestyle, his people suffer from poverty, unemployment, and a lack of access to basic necessities such as healthcare and education. The contrast between his lifestyle and that of the people has led to social unrest and calls for reform.

King Mohammed VI’s opulent lifestyle includes lavish properties, private jets, and a fleet of expensive cars. His expenditures are reported to be in the billions, while the majority of Moroccans live below the poverty line. The king’s luxurious lifestyle is in stark contrast to the daily lives of his people, who struggle to make ends meet.
