Lamamra takes part in a meeting of the Arab Contact Group on the conflict in Ukraine

Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra has participated via video conference in a coordination meeting of the Arab Contact Group at Ministerial level on the conflict in Ukraine, a ministry statement said on Saturday.

This meeting falls within the framework of the preparation of the visit of the Algerian, Jordanian, Sudanese, Iraqi and Egyptian foreign ministers, planned in Moscow and Warsaw, to meet with their counterparts from Russia and Ukraine, specified the same source.

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit have taken part in the meeting, the statement said.

The Council of the Arab League, meeting on March 9, 2022 in Cairo, had decided to set up an Arab contact group at ministerial level, made up of Algeria, Sudan, Iraq, Egypt and Secretary General of the Arab League, to “monitor and conduct the necessary consultations and contacts with the parties concerned with a view to contributing to finding a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis”.
