ALGIERS- The International Association of Friends of the Algerian Revolution (AIARA) inaugurated its official website in three languages (Arabic, French, and English) at its headquarters in Algiers.

The ceremony, attended by the association’s president, Noureddine Djoudi, the dean of Algerian ambassadors, marked a significant step in AIARA’s efforts to preserve and promote the values and principles of the November 1st, 1954 Revolution, while strengthening solidarity among its supporters.

Speaking at the event, President Djoudi emphasized AIARA’s commitment to upholding the ideals of the Algerian Revolution, which extended beyond the liberation of the country to championing just causes and standing in solidarity with oppressed peoples, including those in Western Sahara and Palestine. He underscored the revolutionary principle of advocating for the freedom and justice of all peoples, highlighting the role played by Algeria in training fighters from other nations during the liberation struggle.

Addressing the relentless targeting of Algeria for its unwavering and principled stances on Palestine and Western Sahara, President Djoudi praised the sacrifices made by foreigners who expressed solidarity with Algeria, affirming the nation’s enduring gratitude towards its allies.

During the website presentation, Mustapha Ait Mouhoub, the Association’s communication manager, outlined three primary objectives for the trilingual website. Firstly, it aims to unite individuals worldwide who have supported the Algerian Revolution, considering them as friends of Algeria. Secondly, the website seeks to engage these friends of Algeria in preserving the memory of the Revolution and enriching it with new testimonies. Lastly, it endeavors to inform the Algerian people about the global support received during their struggle for independence, enhancing their understanding of their revolutionary history.

Ait Mouhoub highlighted the instrumental role played by thousands of individuals worldwide in raising awareness about the Algerian Revolution and influencing international opinion. Through the website, AIARA continues to discover new friends of Algeria, inviting them to share their stories to enrich understanding of the Revolution. The website, featuring multiple sections, will inform visitors about AIARA’s activities and advocate for the rights of oppressed peoples, such as those in Western Sahara and occupied Palestine.

Looking ahead, AIARA plans to organize seminars, workshops, and forums featuring experts, historians, and researchers to explore the support provided by politicians and journalists to the Algerian Revolution. Notable figures, including Nils Andersson, editor of the White Book on torture in Algeria, will share their insights, enriching the website’s content and contributing to the collective memory of the Algerian Revolution. Additionally, the website will include an “Encyclopedia of Friendship” section, aiming to identify and catalog friends of Algeria worldwide.
