Algiers, Algeria | September 15th, 2024  In a significant development for Algeria’s fisheries sector, a digital registration platform for enrolling in specialized training institutions is set to be launched soon, according to Mohamed Mounir Guerbi, Deputy Director of Training at the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture. The announcement was made during the Open Days event at the National Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (INSPA) held at the Port of Algiers.

Revolutionizing Enrollment and Tracking with Digital Innovation

Guerbi emphasized that the forthcoming platform will offer a streamlined process for prospective students to register across nine training institutions nationwide. This digital solution is designed to simplify the enrollment process, allowing students to manage their applications and track their progress remotely.

“The new platform will not only facilitate student registration but also provide a comprehensive tracking system from initial application to diploma issuance,” Guerbi stated. “With integrated remote certification services and a digital library, it will significantly enhance the learning experience and administrative efficiency.”

The platform will offer students the ability to monitor their educational journey online, ensuring transparency and ease of access. It will also feature a digital library, expanding students’ knowledge and resources beyond traditional classroom settings.

Empowering Future Entrepreneurs with Targeted Training

In addition to the digital advancements, Guerbi highlighted the introduction of entrepreneurial training sessions aimed at equipping students with the skills to start their own businesses. To date, twenty educators have been trained in this new curriculum, which will soon be complemented by dedicated spaces for entrepreneurship and innovation.

“This initiative is pivotal in nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs within the fisheries sector,” Guerbi explained. “By providing targeted training for our trainers, we are investing in the future of our students and the industry as a whole.”

The establishment of these entrepreneurial training spaces is expected to foster innovation and support students in developing viable business ventures, further contributing to the sector’s growth.

Increased Interest and Enrollment in Fisheries Training

Mohamed Maazouz, Director of INSPA, noted that recent incentives from public authorities have significantly boosted interest in fisheries training programs. The institute offers a diverse range of programs, including basic training, continuing education, skills enhancement, demand-driven training, and professional experience evaluation.

“The measures taken by the authorities have been highly effective in attracting young individuals to our training institutions,” Maazouz remarked. “We have seen a substantial increase in enrollment numbers as a result.”

Currently, nearly 6,000 students have pre-registered for the sector’s training institutes this year, with expectations to reach 10,000 by the end of September. This surge in interest reflects the growing recognition of the value and opportunities within the fisheries sector.

Open Days: Engaging the Public and Showcasing Resources

The Open Days event provided valuable insights into the available training programs and resources. Visitors had the opportunity to tour the training vessel “Ben Zaza,” showcasing its equipment and facilities. This hands-on experience aimed to provide prospective students with a practical understanding of the training environment and resources available to them.

The event served as a platform to engage with interested individuals, offering detailed information about the programs and the benefits of pursuing a career in the fisheries sector. By presenting the training vessel and its capabilities, INSPA highlighted the practical aspects of its training offerings and the real-world applications of the skills taught.
