“Laying the Foundation for a Promising Algerian Military Industry,” Affirms General Said Chanegriha

Algiers, Algeria | November 11th, 2024 — General Said Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of Algeria’s People’s National Army (ANP), conducted a working and inspection visit to the 1st Military Region, where he reviewed developments at the ANP’s Center for Engineering and Development in Mechanics and Electronics. This visit underscored Algeria’s strategic focus on cultivating a self-sustaining military industry equipped to meet the nation’s defense and security requirements.

During his tour, General Chanegriha received a detailed briefing on the Center’s contributions to Algeria’s military industrial framework. Impressed by the Center’s progress, he praised the personnel for their efforts in advancing Algeria’s indigenous military capabilities. In a videoconference address broadcast to all military regions, he expressed the High Command’s dedication to fostering an Algerian military industry that is closely aligned with the country’s unique defense and security objectives. He underscored the importance of developing advanced, Algeria-specific military technology, emphasizing that regional instability and global challenges demand reliance on indigenous expertise and resources.

General Chanegriha stressed the High Command’s vision of an autonomous military industry that bolsters the operational readiness of the ANP. He highlighted the Center’s role in strengthening national sovereignty, stating, “The High Command places paramount importance on laying the foundation for a promising Algerian military industry tailored to defense and security needs, enhancing the availability of our armed forces, and progressively meeting their operational demands, all in line with our unique specifications and defense doctrine.”

He further encouraged the personnel to leverage national resources and the skills of Algeria’s youth, underlining that a self-reliant defense sector is crucial for preserving Algeria’s independence and sovereignty. Concluding his visit, General Chanegriha invited the Center’s team to share their ideas and proposals, to which they responded with a renewed commitment to advancing Algeria’s military production capabilities, aiming to reinforce the ANP’s operational preparedness and contribute to a strong, autonomous defense infrastructure for the country.
