ALGIERS- The Algerian football community was rocked by news involving Rabah Madjer, a legendary player and former FC Porto star. The controversy was sparked when it was reported that Madjer’ son, Lotfi, had chosen to play for Qatar’s U23 team instead of Algeria. However, Madjer quickly stepped up to set the record straight.
In a statement to Dzair Tube channel, Madjer clarified that his son had never received an invitation from the FAF to join any of Algeria’s national teams, despite being one of the best players in the young Paradou team. According to him, Lotfi’s talent and potential should have been recognized and given a chance to represent his country.
Madjer went on to emphasize that his son had never refused Algeria and that “he is one hundred percent Algerian.” He urged the Algerian people not to judge Lotfi unfairly and to leave him alone.
