Louisa Hanoune Urges Immediate Humanitarian Aid to Gaza: Workers’ Party Stands Firm on Domestic and International Fronts

Algiers, Algeria | February 7th, 2025 — The Workers’ Party (PT) convened its first political bureau meeting of 2025 on Friday in Algiers, dedicating the session to assessing the party’s activities, outlining its upcoming objectives, and reaffirming its political commitments. Addressing party members at the opening of the session, PT Secretary-General Louisa Hanoune emphasized the importance of evaluating the party’s political and organizational performance at both national and provincial levels, stressing the significance of grassroots engagement and the mobilization of youth within the party’s ranks.

Hanoune underscored the Workers’ Party’s proactive approach in responding to Algeria’s evolving political landscape, highlighting the party’s extensive consultations nationwide and the ambitious proposals put forward by its younger members. She also reiterated the PT’s firm stance on key legislative matters, confirming that the party had submitted observations and recommendations regarding the draft laws on political parties, associations, and local governance.

On the international stage, Hanoune delivered a powerful statement in solidarity with the Palestinian people, lauding their unwavering resistance against occupation and vehemently condemning ongoing efforts to forcibly displace Gaza’s population. Warning of the catastrophic consequences of what she described as an orchestrated campaign to ethnically cleanse Gaza, Hanoune called for urgent and immediate humanitarian intervention, stressing that Algeria, as a longstanding and steadfast supporter of the Palestinian cause, must take the lead in mobilizing relief efforts.

“The Palestinian people are facing an existential battle against oppression and genocide. Algeria has always been at the forefront of defending just causes, and we must accelerate our efforts to provide concrete support—humanitarian aid must be delivered without delay,” she asserted.
