ALGIERS- Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced on Wednesday that his country has decided to prohibit Zionist-owned cargo ships from docking in its ports as a protest against the aggression in the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the Prime Minister explained that this decision is a response to actions by the Zionist entity that “violate fundamental humanitarian principles and international law.”

He highlighted that in 2002, the Cabinet had allowed ships belonging to a company affiliated with the occupying entity to dock in Malaysia. However, the current government has decided to revoke all previous Cabinet decisions.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Malaysia is “confident that these decisions will not negatively impact its business activities.”

Malaysia Stands Firm in Support of Palestine, Rejects Zionist Athletes

Earlier and in a resolute affirmation of Malaysia’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad conveyed a strong message to Hamas chief, Ismail Haneyya. Mohamad, reaching out by phone, condemned the Zionist occupation as a criminal entity and pledged that Malaysia would stand by the Palestinians until they reclaim their inalienable rights.

Hamas chief Ismail Haneyya commended Mahathir’s steadfast stance, emphasizing its alignment with Malaysia’s historical pro-Palestine position. The Malaysian Prime Minister further criticized the Zionist entity at the United Nations, labeling it a “criminal entity” that disregards international laws, particularly condemning illegal settlement activities across the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a noteworthy move, Malaysia affirmed its rejection of normalization with the Zionist occupation and announced its refusal to allow Zionist athletes into the country. This stance was reinforced as Malaysia reiterated its decision not to permit Zionist athletes to compete in the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships, a qualifying event for the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.

Despite facing pressure from international sports bodies, including the International Paralympic Committee and the Zionist Olympic Committee, Malaysia remains resolute in its position. Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad stated emphatically, “We will not allow them to enter. If they come, then it is an offense,” signaling Malaysia’s commitment to its principled stand against Zionist actions.
