Market Control of Food Products: Agriculture Minister Henni Chairs Coordination Meeting

ALGIERS- The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohamed Abdelhafid Henni, chaired a coordination meeting to discuss practical measures related to the control of the market for food and agricultural products of high consumption, according to a statement from the ministry.
During this meeting, several important and priority issues were addressed, including those related to the preparation of the 2023-2024 agricultural campaign, the progress of the plowing and sowing campaign, the mobilization of agricultural inputs (fertilizers and seeds), and the evaluation of the performance of inspection committees in all grain-producing provinces.
Instructions were issued to support the producers of legumes by providing seeds and increasing the planted areas for leguminous crops.
On the other hand, the representative from the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion presented the new distribution map for subsidized milk in pouches.
The minister praised the efforts made to ensure perfect coordination between the two sectors and the digitization of the distribution map for raw materials to both public and private dairy facilities.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to present the list of agricultural products subject to determining profit margins for certain basic consumer goods.
At the end of this meeting, strict directives were issued to address “as efficiently and swiftly as possible” all the concerns raised, particularly those related to the supply of red and white meat and eggs to the market at reasonable and affordable prices for consumers.
