Algiers- Algeria, May 5, 2024 – Algeria has requested a closed-door consultation meeting of the United Nations Security Council next Tuesday to address the mass graves discovered in the Gaza Strip following the withdrawal of the Zionist occupation army from certain areas.

Recent reports from Palestinian authorities indicate that “over 400 bodies had been discovered in mass graves in hospitals in Gaza.” Mohammed Mughier, a member of the Palestinian Civil Defense, as cited by media, stated that “20 bodies in the mass graves found in Gaza hospitals may have been buried alive.” He further specified that “10 bodies had their hands tied while others still had medical tubes attached.”

Despite being protected under international law, hospitals in Gaza have been bombed by the Zionist entity during nearly seven months of war. Following the discovery of these mass graves, calls for an investigation have intensified.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern over the discovery of mass graves in the two main hospitals in the Gaza Strip and called for an independent investigation. “It is imperative that independent international investigators (…) be allowed immediate access to the sites to determine the exact circumstances in which Palestinians lost their lives and were buried or reburied,” he stated.
