ALGIERS – The Minister of Mujahideen and Rights holders, Mr. Laid Rebiga supervised, on Wednesday, in El Kef, Tunisia, the start of the shooting of the first Algerian movie in 3D animated images, entitled “El Sakia”.
The 70-minute film is produced by the Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, and directed by Naoufel Klach, while the screenplay which deals with the events of Sakiet Sidi Youcef is written by Tayeb Touhami.
The shototing includes scenes that will be shot in Algeria; Algiers, Médéa and Souk Ahras. Noting that their preparation will last 30 weeks with the mobilization of 20 technicians.
The film deals with the epic of Sakiet Sidi Youcef, a border region where the blood of the brotherly Tunisian and Algerian peoples was shed in a determined effort to regain independence and freedom.
The movie retraces the story of grandfather Ahmed, his daughter and his grandson Ammar, who leave their douar of origin to flee the repression and the repeated abuses of the colonialist soldiery. They take refuge in Sakiet Sidi Youcef, where they will find a new neighbor, Belkacem, a Tunisian who will provide them help and assistance.
In another part of the film, the audience will follow the story of little Amar who faces exhausting obstacles to join his father in Sakiet Sidi Youcef, where he will witness his death.
The ordeals that the child Ammar will experience do not stop there, he will witness the bombardments of Sakiet Sidi Youcef, a heinous massacre during which no one in this border area is spared.
It is worth mentioning that the massacres of Sekiet Sidi Youssef committed by the French colonial forces in 1958, which claimed the lives of nearly 80 Algerian and Tunisian civilians, including women and children, have sealed forever the bonds of brotherhood and active solidarity between the Algerian and Tunisian peoples, who share with the other Maghreb peoples a common destiny.
