ALGIERS- This Sunday evening, players from USM Alger refused to enter the field to face RS Berkane in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-final at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane.
USM Alger’s decision came after RS Berkane insisted on playing with shirts featuring a fictitious map, which violates FIFA and CAF regulations.
The events unfolded at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane, where players from USM Alger announced their refusal to enter the field for the scheduled match, leading to its cancellation and leaving fans in the stands awaiting further developments.
USM Alger’s decision was a response to RS Berkane’s persistence in wearing shirts featuring the controversial map, despite warnings from relevant authorities about the need to comply with internationally recognized laws and regulations.
