Mauritanian President commends President Tebboune’s constructive role, tireless efforts in defending Arab Nation’s issues

ALGIERS- The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, on a working visit to Nouakchott, as special envoy of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, was received, Tuesday, by the President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazaouani, said a press release from the ministry.
On this occasion, the Minister handed over to the Mauritanian President “a letter from his brother, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and conveyed to him his warm greetings and his determination to pursue joint action to materialize their common ambition to promote relations of brotherhood and cooperation between the two sisterly countries,” the statement said.
The meeting allowed, according to the same source, to discuss “the progress made in terms of monitoring and implementing the directives of the leaders of the two countries and the outcomes of their consultations during the State visit of Mr. Ould Cheikh El-Ghazaouani in December 2021 to Algeria, which inaugurated a new era in the history of Algerian-Mauritanian relations”.
In this context, the two parties welcomed “the significant momentum in bilateral relations and the outcomes of the 19th session of the Great Joint Commission, which open up promising prospects for the establishment of a strategic partnerships, including the road linking Tindouf to Zouerate, the opening of an Algerian bank in Nouakchott, the setting up of a permanent exhibition of the Algerian Company of Fairs and Exhibitions , (SAFEX), and the exploitation of the fishing quotas offered by Mauritania to Algeria”.
The meeting was an opportunity to emphasize “the attachment of the leaders of the two countries to the traditions of mutual support, consultation and coordination on the issues raised in the various spaces and organizations on the basis of their deep conviction that the tensions at the regional and international levels and the challenges faced, require the adoption of common approaches drawing more than ever on the principle of the common fate”, added the communiqué.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Ould Cheikh El-Ghazaouani instructed Minister Attaf to convey his “warmest greetings to his brother President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his great satisfaction with the exceptional level of relations of brotherhood and cooperation between Algeria and Mauritania”, commending in this regard “his constructive role and tireless efforts in defending the issues and concerns of the Arab Nation, particularly during his current presidency of the Council of the Arab League “.
