May 1st, International Workers' Day: Paid Public Holiday

ALGIERS- The day of Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, International Workers’ Day, will be a paid public holiday for all personnel of public institutions and administrations, as well as public and private establishments and offices, according to a statement from the General Directorate of Public Service and Administrative Reform.

“In observance of Labor Day and in accordance with Law No. 63-278 of July 26, 1963, as amended and supplemented, establishing the list of legal holidays, Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, will be a paid public holiday for all personnel of public institutions and administrations, public and private establishments and offices, as well as personnel of public and private enterprises, regardless of sector or legal status, including hourly or daily wage earners,” the statement specifies.

However, “the aforementioned institutions, administrations, establishments, offices, and enterprises are required to take necessary measures to ensure the continuity of services organized under shift work,” the same source emphasizes.
