Algerian Ministry of National Defense Announces Surrender of Two Terrorists, Arrest of Another, Alongside Counter-Crime Operations

ALGIERS- In a statement released this Wednesday, the Ministry of National Defense (MDN) has disclosed the surrender of two terrorists to the authorities of the sixth military region, accompanied by the recovery of two Kalashnikov-type submachine guns and ammunition.
According to the MDN, the surrendered individuals are identified as “A. Taher” and “T. Sid Ahmed,” who had affiliated with terrorist groups operating in the Sahel region.
Additionally, the MDN reports the apprehension of terrorist “K. Ahmed,” also operating within the Sahel region, alongside the arrest of 22 individuals providing support to terrorist groups during operations conducted nationwide from February 7 to 13.
As part of the ongoing efforts to combat organized crime, the MDN announced the arrest of a Moroccan national involved in drug trafficking in Béchar, found in possession of 207 kg of processed cannabis and a firearm.
Furthermore, attempts to smuggle 138 kg of processed cannabis across the borders with Morocco were thwarted. The MDN also seized a quantity of 82,998 psychotropic tablets during the same period.
These recent developments underscore the continued vigilance and effectiveness of the MDN in safeguarding national security and combating terrorism and organized crime.
