Message from President Tebboune on the occasion of National Mujahid Day: “Celebrating the Resilience of a Sovereign Algeria”

ALGIERS- The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has conveyed a message on the eve of the commemoration of National Mujahid Day, a day that honors the historical significance of the North Constantine Offensive and the Soummam Congress (August 20, 1955 and 1956). The following is his message:
“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful,
May prayers and peace be upon His Messenger,
Dear citizens,
There are moments that stand as enduring testaments to the immense sacrifices rendered during the Glorious War of National Liberation, reminding us of the magnificence of Algeria, the resoluteness of its liberated people, and their extraordinary legacy. As we celebrate these historical milestones, which embody the valor of a nation that inscribed one of the most remarkable chapters in contemporary history through bloodshed, we pay homage to the triumphant spirit that overcame the forces of colonial oppression.
Today, as we mark the 68th anniversary of the North Constantine Offensive (1955) and the 67th anniversary of the Soummam Congress (1956), we are once again immersed in the epic landscape of our struggle—a citadel of freedom, a realm defined by its resolute inhabitants who etched their devotion in the annals of time. The sacrifices of our chouhada, symbolized by the unyielding spirit of the Northern Constantine Offensive on August 20, 1955, and further etched in the Soummam Congress, bind us to a legacy that instills a sense of pride in our belonging to this formidable homeland. Their courage secured our liberty and infused a nation with indomitable spirit, invoking unwavering allegiance to the principles embedded in the eternal November Declaration and nurturing our national consciousness, inspiring us to zealously safeguard the nation that was wrested from colonial subjugation—a freedom earned through cherished and sanctified sacrifices.
Dear citizens,
We stand today in the embrace of a sovereign Algeria—a testament to the valor of that generous blood, a beacon guiding us to preserve our cherished nation as a safeguarded, respected, and robust constitutional state, characterized by its united populace, the resolve of its people, and the aspirations of its youth.
The very faith in triumph that ignited the Chahid Symbol Zigoud Youcef and his compatriots during the Northern Constantine Offensive on August 20, 1955, resonates in the convictions that steered the Revolutionary leaders to convene the Soummam Congress—a forum that laid the political and military foundations of our Revolution.
This faith remains our lodestar as we venture into the construction of the new Algeria, a journey defined by our unwavering confidence in our nation’s capabilities, reinforcing our determination to advance through collaborative efforts and dedicated toil. Our steps toward sustainable development gather momentum, propelled by a combination of efforts and steadfast labor, ensuring the attainment of positive benchmarks and the continuation of our successes through the endeavors of our citizens.
These capabilities empower the fortification of our societal achievements, safeguarding the dignity of our people, and propelling our nation toward unprecedented strides in the realm of strategic partnerships worldwide, fostering an economic momentum that attracts investments and solidifies Algeria’s robust presence and influence on regional and global stages.
As we observe the dual commemoration of the North Constantine Offensive and the Soummam Congress, our convictions remain steadfast, nourished by the oaths of our chouhada and bolstered by our awareness of Algeria’s potential and rebirth catalysts. Our resolve endures, and with the Algerian people’s unwavering commitment to pride, sovereignty, and development, our nation is poised to advance further, resounding its voice and consolidating its stature—continuing its pivotal role regionally and globally, all while honoring the legacy of the courageous chouhada.
On this occasion, we bow in reverence to their memory, extending our heartfelt greetings and profound esteem to their fellow Mujahideen, beseeching Allah for their longevity, well-being, and health.
