MG-2022: meeting this weekend of the ICMG in Oran

The The International Committee of Mediterranean Games (ICMG) will hold its regular meeting this weekend in Oran, as part of the city’s preparations to host the 19th edition of the MG next summer, we learned from the organizers.

Several members of the ICMG are already hard at work in the western capital of the country, while the rest, headed by the president of this body, the Italian Davide Tizzano, are expected for this Thursday, specified the same source.

This is the first time that the CIJM, which includes the President of the Algerian Olympic and Sports Committee (COA), Abderrahmane Hammad, in its executive office, has met away from its headquarters in Athens since the election of its new President and its new members last October, it is further emphasized.

The opportunity will also be used for the heads of 12 specialized commissions of the local organizing committee of the World Youth Days to make presentations related to the state of progress of the preparations for the World Youth Days, “each according to its field”.

A few weeks ago, the president of the ICMG, accompanied by his secretary general, the Greek Iakovos Philippoussis, made a working visit to Oran at the end of which the first manager of the Mediterranean sports body said he was “very satisfied” of the progress of the preparations in anticipation of the next edition of the MG. He was also optimistic about Algeria’s ability to make “a very good copy” at the next Mediterranean mass.

The head of the ICMG, who had visited several sports facilities and hotels selected for the regional sports meeting, was also received in Algiers by Prime Minister Aïmen Benabderrahmane. During this audience, the Italian leader “expressed his relief at the pace of work in the sports infrastructure which is due to be completed in the coming days, in addition to mastering the various organizational aspects, which confirms the expected success of this sporting event”, according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s services published at the end of this hearing, it is recalled.

The 10th edition of the JM, an event that Algeria is hosting for the second time in its history after hosting the 7th edition in Algiers in 1975, is scheduled from June 25 to July 6, 2022.
