Boumerdès- The Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, embarked on a comprehensive inspection and working visit to Boumerdès on Wednesday, reinforcing his commitment to fortifying the nation’s strategic cereal storage capabilities. The visit, as announced in a press release on the Minister’s official Facebook page, centered around the Agrodiv industrial complex in Corso, a critical site for the country’s grain storage infrastructure.

In a bid to fortify Algeria’s national cereal storage capacities and align with the visionary directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Minister Ali Aoun embarked on a meticulous tour of the Agrodiv complex. The primary focus of his visit was to oversee the ongoing reinforcement efforts for the soft and durum wheat storage batteries, a mission that carries substantial significance for the nation’s food security strategy.

The Minister’s itinerary commenced with a thorough inspection of the reinforcement initiatives encompassing five distinct soft and durum wheat storage batteries. These batteries form the cornerstone of the Agrodiv complex’s storage capabilities, a strategic component of Algeria’s efforts to ensure food security and maintain a resilient stance in the face of potential supply chain challenges.

During his visit, Minister Ali Aoun stressed the urgency of expediting the ongoing works, setting a stringent deadline of no later than the end of 2024. This ambitious target aims to ensure the operational readiness of a remarkable 90% of the storage capacities within the Agrodiv complex. This proactive stance aligns seamlessly with the President’s directives, who envisions a robust augmentation of the nation’s capabilities for the strategic storage of cereals.

Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Minister Aoun emphasized the intricate interplay between the Agrodiv complex’s expansion and the nation’s overarching food security objectives. The strategic storage of cereals plays an instrumental role in safeguarding Algeria’s sovereignty, ensuring a stable supply of essential commodities, and bolstering the nation’s resilience against external fluctuations.

The Minister’s visit comes as part of an ongoing effort by the Algerian government to solidify the nation’s agricultural and industrial landscape. The Agrodiv complex, situated in Corso, stands as a testament to the country’s dedication to self-reliance and sustained growth. The successful execution of the complex’s expansion not only underscores Algeria’s commitment to food security but also resonates with the broader economic diversification goals set by the government.
