ALGIERS- Speaking on Monday at the opening of the 17th congress of the National Union of Community Pharmacists (SNAPO), Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Mr. Ali Aoun, assured that Algeria did not experience a shortage of insulin during the month of Ramadan, thanks in part to the launch of local production projects for this product.
“Algeria has always faced shortages and shortages of insulin during the month of Ramadan. This year, unlike previous years, no shortages or disruptions were reported, thanks to the availability of local production,” he explained.
Continuing his speech, Mr. Aoun denounced what he described as “ferocious campaigns” against generic drugs produced in Algeria: “Ferocious disinformation campaigns have been conducted against national products in recent months. Fortunately, and thanks to the mobilization of all parties concerned, we have managed to put an end to these campaigns that questioned the good quality of drugs manufactured in Algeria,” he explained.
Minister Aoun warned against a new campaign targeting insulin produced in Algeria: “A new campaign aimed at discrediting and questioning the quality of locally produced insulin has recently been launched… We know the authors of this campaign who want Algeria to remain under the influence of imports. We will fight against this new campaign, especially as it targets patients by responding to unfounded rumors, while the quality of insulin produced in Algeria is confirmed and at a reasonable price,” he added.
