ALGIERS- On Monday, the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production held discussions with key figures from the American business sector, including David Wilhelm, CEO of “Hecate Energy,” and Ismail Chikhoune, President of the Algerian-American Business Council (USABC). The meeting involved a significant delegation of 25 American businessmen, aiming to explore potential collaborations and sign mutually beneficial agreements with Algerian enterprises, according to a statement from the ministry.
At the onset of the meeting, Minister Aoun commended the American entrepreneurs for their willingness to establish partnerships and engage in agreements aligning with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision. He acknowledged their interest in investing in the industrial sector, particularly in light of the improved business climate in Algeria and the implementation of the new investment code.
“The minister received offers and proposals from American businessmen who expressed their desire to invest in the industrial sector, especially with the improved business environment in Algeria and the application of the new investment code. The minister reassured economic operators about investing in the industrial sector, emphasizing that the new code protects foreign operators. He also highlighted that the current strategy of the sector aims to encourage projects that generate wealth and employment,” stated the press release.
Minister Aoun encouraged American businessmen to consider investments in renewable energy, spare parts production, and railway projects. He emphasized the strategic importance attached to these sectors by the Algerian government. Both parties expressed their commitment to realizing projects in these areas following discussions with the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion.
