ALGIERS- The Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Mr. Ali Aoun, received the Ambassador of Qatar to Algeria, Mr. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Naama, on Wednesday in Algiers. This event was accompanied by the presence of a delegation from the Algerian-Qatari Steel company (AQS), led by its General Director, Mr. Yousef Ahmed Al Muhannadi.
In a press release issued by the ministry, it was highlighted that both parties expressed their satisfaction with the strong and fruitful relations between Algeria and Qatar, particularly in the industrial sector.
The press release stated, “The State of Qatar has made substantial investments in various projects, including the Bellara (Jijel) steel complex, which stands as a testament to the success of Arab-Arab economic partnerships in the steel industry.”
Minister Aoun emphasized that the establishment of the steel complex has significantly contributed to the expansion of Algeria’s non-hydrocarbon exports. He further assured that the Ministry of Industry is committed to providing all necessary support and facilitations for the project’s expansion, as stated in the press release.
In response, the CEO of AQS expressed his confidence in the factory’s capabilities and revealed that it is currently manufacturing new iron products to further develop this sector.
This meeting between Minister Aoun, the Qatari ambassador, and the AQS delegation underscores the importance of fostering strong economic ties and collaboration between Algeria and Qatar. It serves as a testament to the commitment of both nations to promote industrial growth and enhance bilateral relations.
