Minister Arkab Discusses Ways to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation with Azerbaijani Counterpart

ALGIERS- Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, met with the Azerbaijani Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, in Algiers on Saturday to discuss avenues for enhancing cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, according to a statement from the ministry.
The meeting took place at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center, on the sidelines of the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit, in the presence of Sonatrach’s CEO and ministry officials.
Both parties reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding signed in November 2022 in Algiers, following the Azerbaijani minister’s working visit, and explored ways to reactivate it.
During the discussion, they also examined investment opportunities between companies from both countries across the entire value chain in the hydrocarbon sector. Additionally, they explored avenues to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise between Sonatrach and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).
Both parties praised the ongoing dialogue and consultation process between the two countries within the framework of the GECF and between OPEC and non-OPEC countries for the stability of markets in the medium and long terms, the statement concluded.
