Minister Arkab Meets with Italian Plan Delegate for Africa

Algeria and Italy Discuss Partnership in Energy and Mining Sectors

ALGIERS- Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, met with Mr. Fabrizio Saggio, the diplomatic advisor to the President of the Italian Council responsible for the Italian plan for Africa (Mattei), in Algiers on Tuesday, according to a statement from the ministry.

The meeting, attended by the Italian Ambassador to Algeria and ministry officials, primarily focused on discussing partnership opportunities between the two countries, with a special emphasis on the energy and mining sectors.

“At this meeting, Mr. Saggio introduced the Mattei plan, which aims to enhance cooperation with African countries by supporting the exploitation of their natural resources, particularly in energy and basic infrastructure. The plan also seeks to diversify supply chains to ensure energy security and achieve sustainable economic development in various sectors such as agriculture, health, water resources, education, and research,” the statement mentioned.

Mr. Saggio also expressed Italy’s willingness to establish a partnership with Algeria in energy-related training.

Furthermore, the meeting covered discussions on potential cooperation between companies from both countries, particularly in areas such as training, hydrocarbons, renewable energy, and exchange of experiences.
