ALGIERS- Ahmed Attaf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, this evening to participate in the extraordinary session of the African Union Executive Council.
According to the ministry’s statement, this extraordinary session is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, February 15, under the presidency of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, with the participation of the foreign ministers of the AU member states.
The ministry also clarified that the session’s discussions will center around the mechanisms for selecting and electing members of the African Union Commission, in preparation for the upcoming important elections early next year. These elections will determine the new President of the Commission, a Vice-President, and six commissioners responsible for various critical issues on the continental agenda.
