Minister Belaribi Conducts Inspection Visit to Urban Hub Sidi Boudrahem in Béjaïa Province

ALGIERS- In an evening visit on Wednesday, March 6, 2023, Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Mr. Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, conducted an inspection tour of the urban hub Sidi Boudrahem in Béjaïa province, where he examined the progress of two key housing projects: 2798 housing units under the “AADL” rent-to-own scheme and 2004 social housing units.
The Minister commenced the visit by inspecting the 5-kilometer-long retaining walls, the completion of which is being overseen by Algerian institutions. He directed for the conclusion of the construction works before the end of the current month.
Additionally, Minister Belaribi assessed the condition of roads and pathways following recent weather fluctuations, ordering their immediate cleaning. He praised the manner in which these infrastructures were executed, especially as they were completed by Algerian institutions.
Regarding utility connections, the Minister inspected progress on electricity network connections, which stood at 95% completion, gas connections at 85%, and water network connections at 85%. He then proceeded to examine water tanks with a capacity of 6000 m³, currently at 15% completion, emphasizing the need for a 3×8 work schedule to expedite their completion.
As for public facilities, comprising 9 units within the urban hub, including 2 school complexes, 2 middle schools, 2 high schools, a multipurpose clinic, and a security center, construction has commenced on one school complex while the evaluation of bids for the remaining facilities is ongoing. Works are scheduled to begin immediately upon completion of administrative procedures.
