Algiers, Algeria | September 12th, 2024 — On September 12, 2024, Professor Kamel Baddari, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, conducted an inspection visit to the University of Continuous Training. The visit, which was warmly received by the university’s Director, Mr. Yahi Jaafri, and attended by various faculty members and administrative staff, underscored the institution’s significant strides and future objectives.

During his visit, Minister Baddari and his delegation first reviewed the student card distribution office and the state-of-the-art Data Center. They were provided with detailed briefings on the center’s capabilities, highlighting its essential role in managing the university’s expanding remote education initiatives.

Director Jaafri emphasized the university’s notable progress, particularly in anticipation of reaching a record enrollment of 90,000 students for the current academic year. The enrollment process, facilitated through the Progress platform, is underway, with a focus on minimizing paperwork and streamlining student transitions. The academic year is set to commence on September 24, 2024, as scheduled by the Ministry.

Minister Baddari was given a thorough overview of the university’s remote learning platforms, which utilize a hybrid model of education. This year, the institution is expanding its offerings to include evening classes as part of an enhanced remote learning initiative.

In his address, Minister Baddari emphasized the necessity for dynamic and adaptable electronic learning platforms. He stressed the importance of ensuring these platforms offer “mobile education” and robust frameworks for fair and accurate student assessment.

The Minister also highlighted the need for aligning educational programs with international standards to facilitate academic exchanges between Algerian and foreign students. This approach aims to strengthen the connections between Algerian universities and their international counterparts.

Baddari called for deep reforms within the University of Continuous Training, which is tasked with providing open and lifelong learning opportunities. He underscored the necessity of enhancing the university’s economic role by enabling graduates to access the economic sphere through proposed economic projects.

Given the university’s mandate as an open institution dedicated to lifelong learning, Baddari emphasized the need to improve its vocational and professional training programs. He called for the development of curricula that enhance students’ skills and prepare them for the workforce, aligning with the President’s vision for the university.

In conclusion, Minister Baddari’s visit highlighted the University of Continuous Training’s transformative progress and outlined a strategic vision for its future. By focusing on enhancing remote learning capabilities and reinforcing its economic contributions, the university is poised to play a pivotal role in Algeria’s educational and economic landscape.
