ALGIERS- Dr. Mohamed Laâgab, the Minister of Communication, chaired the installation of two oversight committees on Tuesday. The first committee is tasked with monitoring programs broadcasted by television channels during the month of Ramadan, while the second committee will oversee the content of sports programs.
These committees will ensure the implementation of directives from the Ministry of Communication regarding the observance of ethics, professionalism, and the alignment of television programs with the values and customs of Algerian society.
According to a statement from the ministry, the establishment of these committees follows recommendations from meetings between the Minister of Communication and the directors of television channels on January 27, as well as a gathering with journalists and sports media officials on February 1.
During the installation ceremony of these committees, Mohamed Laâgab emphasized the importance of assuming moral responsibility for audiovisual media programs “especially after observing several breaches and deviations by journalists or program officials.” He stated that the ministry will take necessary measures in case of violations of ethical rules and professionalism.
