ALGIERS- In a press conference held in Adrar province, Minister of Housing, Urbanism, and City Mohamed Tarek Belaribi issued a stern directive to local officials, urging them to expedite the preparation of lists for beneficiaries of rural housing assistance. The minister emphasized the importance of timely delivery of housing aid and underscored the need for efficient management of housing programs to meet the demands outlined in the 2024 budget.
Belaribi highlighted the allocation of 460,000 housing units across various formats in the 2024 budget, emphasizing the availability of programs while stressing the importance of improved management practices. He expressed concern over the delay in the distribution of 43 rural housing assistance grants dating back to 2022 and instructed local officials to prioritize the delivery of beneficiary lists promptly.
“If the assistance grants are not utilized within six months, we will transfer them to other provinces,” warned Belaribi, emphasizing the urgency of timely implementation. He cited examples of provinces that have successfully distributed assistance within a three-month timeframe, urging Adrar officials to adopt similar practices.
Providing insights into housing projects in Adrar, Belaribi revealed ongoing construction of 1,800 housing units and plans for an additional 2,200 units. Additionally, over 5,000 rural housing assistance grants and more than 7,000 social housing grants are allocated for the province. The comprehensive program for Adrar encompasses 15,000 housing units with a total value exceeding 23 billion dinars.
Belaribi assured that these initiatives are being actively pursued on the ground, expressing confidence that Adrar will soon experience progress and prosperity, bringing relief to its residents.
