ALGIERS- Lakhdar Rakhroukh, the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, announced on Monday from Bordj Bou Arreridj that the province of M’sila will be linked to the East-West Highway via Bordj Bou Arreridj “before the arrival of next summer.”

During a press statement at the provincial headquarters, the minister specified that “the completion of the construction of road sections connecting the province of M’sila to the East-West Highway through Bordj Bou Arreridj will take place before the summer of 2024,” as reported by APS (Algerian Press Service).

Minister Rakhroukh issued instructions to construction companies to strictly adhere to contractual deadlines and even work towards reducing them to support the development process in the Bordj Bou Arreridj province. This effort aims to facilitate citizens’ mobility, particularly in anticipation of the summer season in 2024.

In this context, Minister Rakhroukh invited local authorities to address obstacles faced by entrepreneurs, especially in terms of expropriation, to expedite the execution of their projects.

During the inspection of the works, including the doubling of the 8.5 km stretch of National Road RN-5 between the municipality of El M’hir (Bordj Bou Arreridj) and the East-West Highway, the doubling of the RN-60 A section between El M’hir and the village Selatna in the same municipality over a distance of 11 km, and the bypass of the village Selatna to the limits of the M’sila province, Minister Rakhrouch affirmed that his department gives “priority to the implementation of projects to double roads with a high number of road accidents.”

Upon the completion of these projects, which mobilize a financial envelope of DZD 2.84 billion, the economic dynamics in the province of Bordj Bou Arreridj, representing an industrial hub for electronics and household appliances, will be enhanced, emphasized the minister.

During his tour in Bordj Bou Arreridj, the minister inaugurated the Ouled Mehdi communal road over a distance of 6 km, launched two projects to double the bypass road of El Anasser city over a distance of 5 km, and the bypass road of Belimour city over 4 km. Additionally, he inspected the project to double National Road RN-103 between Ras El Oued and the R’maïl industrial zone over 4 km.
