ALGIERS- Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Lakhdar Rekhroukh, hosted a delegation of American economic operators and businessmen on Tuesday at the ministry’s headquarters. The delegation was led by Mr. David Wilhelm, Chairman of the Board of the Algerian-American Business Council (USABC), and Mr. Ismail Chikhoune, President of the USABC, as per the ministry’s statement.
The meeting, attended by the directors-general of groups and economic entities under the ministry’s supervision, along with central executives, aimed to discuss the state of cooperation between the two countries in the field of public works and basic infrastructure. Both parties emphasized their willingness to enhance cooperation and capitalize on opportunities to promote bilateral partnerships in various sectors within the industry.
Minister Rekhroukh urged the American delegation to leverage available investment opportunities by implementing joint projects in basic facilities and infrastructure. He highlighted the advantages that Algeria offers to foreign investors. The minister also commended Algeria’s substantial projects aimed at reinforcing port, road, and railway infrastructures, stating that the country is steadfastly progressing in the development of railway infrastructures through network strengthening and modernization.
Following explanations provided about significant projects in the public works and basic infrastructure sector, the American delegation expressed its interest and eagerness to actively participate in realizing Algeria’s investment program. The program provides a favorable framework for investment, according to the delegation. The discussions concluded with a positive outlook on effective collaboration and partnership in Algeria’s ongoing development initiatives, as outlined in the ministry’s statement.
