Algiers, Algeria | February 11th, 2025 — In anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan, Minister of Industry, Dr. Sifi Ghrieb, convened a high-level meeting with executives from the state-owned agro-industrial holding company, Agrodiv, along with its subsidiaries, and the food and agricultural division of the Madar Holding Group. The meeting aimed to assess and reinforce the comprehensive supply strategy for essential consumer goods, ensuring market stability, affordability, and accessibility in line with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s directives to combat speculation and safeguard food security.
During the discussions, the minister was briefed on the finalized supply programs and operational plans designed to secure the steady availability of widely consumed products throughout Ramadan. This initiative directly aligns with recent presidential instructions, emphasizing the imperative of maintaining stable markets and preventing hoarding and price manipulation.
Strict Compliance with Supply Timelines and Quality Standards
Minister Ghrieb underscored the critical importance of adhering to the predefined supply schedule and quality benchmarks. He stressed that Agrodiv and its affiliates must execute their distribution commitments efficiently, ensuring that essential food products remain continuously available at reasonable prices that reflect and respect the purchasing power of Algerian citizens.
In a decisive move to bring essential goods closer to consumers, Agrodiv will significantly expand its direct-to-market presence. As part of this effort, the company will launch operations in 167 neighborhood markets starting February 15, offering discounts of up to 15% on key products. These measures will complement Agrodiv’s extensive retail network, which already includes 420 dedicated sales outlets and a robust presence in major supermarket chains.
Beyond ensuring product availability, Minister Ghrieb emphasized the social responsibility of Agrodiv in reinforcing solidarity initiatives during Ramadan. He called on the company to amplify its efforts in supporting low-income families and community welfare programs, reinforcing the spirit of mutual aid and social cohesion that defines the holy month.
