Algiers, Algeria | October 8th, 2024 — On Tuesday, Minister of Vocational Training and Professional Education, Yacine Merabi, inaugurated the new training year in Oran, marking the start of the October 2024 session. This year, the sector has allocated an impressive 400,000 new educational places across various training modes and frameworks nationwide, reflecting a commitment to enhancing vocational skills and addressing the demands of the job market.

Under the slogan “Professional Training, Economic Empowerment, and Digital Governance,” the ministry has mobilized essential resources to ensure the success of this year’s initiatives. These resources include the provision of necessary pedagogical and technical means, the establishment of delegated branches within training institutions, and the introduction of numerous new specialties in key areas such as agriculture, digitalization, and new technologies, in addition to those already included in the vocational training curriculum.

The sector offers over 400 specialties leading to state diplomas and more than 140 specialties for short-term qualifying training, encompassing 23 professional sectors identified in the vocational training specialty nomenclature. These specialties have been carefully determined based on the unique characteristics of each region, aligning with the requirements of the national economy.

With more than 1,220 training establishments across the country, the Ministry of Vocational Training is poised to play a crucial role in equipping individuals with the skills necessary for today’s evolving job landscape, thereby fostering a more robust and competitive workforce.

This strategic initiative aims not only to enhance individual capabilities but also to contribute to the broader economic development goals of Algeria, ensuring that the workforce is well-prepared to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing economy.
