Ministers of Housing and Sports Inspect Ali La Pointe Stadium in Douera After Maintenance Works

Algiers, Algeria | January 20th, 2025 —  Mohamed Tarek Belaribi, the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, and Walid Sadi, the Minister of Sports, paid a joint visit to the Ali La Pointe Stadium, located in Douera, on Monday. The visit came after the completion of extensive maintenance works carried out on the stadium, a crucial facility for the region’s sporting events.

During their inspection, the ministers toured several key areas of the stadium, including the conference hall, VIP lounge, locker rooms, and warm-up area. They also visited the field itself to assess its readiness for hosting a variety of sports events. The ministers emphasized the importance of ensuring that the stadium meets all necessary standards for safety, functionality, and comfort for athletes and spectators alike.

At the conclusion of the visit, the ministers chaired a meeting with senior officials overseeing the project from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning. A decision was made to form a joint committee between the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Sports. This committee will be tasked with ensuring a smooth transition of the stadium’s management from the Ministry of Housing to the Ministry of Sports, with a focus on ongoing coordination with security and civil protection authorities.

Furthermore, the committee will be responsible for inventorying all technical and electronic systems related to the stadium, ensuring that all plans and systems are handed over efficiently to the sports sector for effective management. Additionally, it was agreed that a comprehensive training program will be implemented for the staff in charge of managing the stadium in the future, aimed at strengthening their skills and ensuring professional and efficient operations of this vital sports facility.

This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance Algeria’s sports infrastructure and ensure the sustainability and proper management of facilities that play a key role in the development of sports in the country.
