Ministry of Trade Initiates Inspections of Foreign Language Schools to Enforce Compliance

Algiers, Algeria | January 05th, 2024 — The Ministry of Trade has launched a series of inspection operations targeting the growing number of foreign language schools that have recently emerged across the country. These schools, which have been operating in various sectors, have been found to be non-compliant with the activities registered in their commercial registers.

As part of its efforts, the ministry has initiated field investigations, focusing on foreign language schools that are officially registered under commercial code 607014. Preliminary findings have revealed that a majority of these institutions are engaged in activities outside their official registration, particularly in areas related to religious education.

Furthermore, many of these language schools have been found to be offering private tutoring services to students—an activity that bears no relation to the scope outlined in their commercial registration. This non-compliant behavior raises concerns regarding regulatory oversight and the protection of students’ rights.

The Ministry of Trade has issued a formal call for all foreign language schools to strictly adhere to the activities outlined in their commercial registration. Schools found to be operating outside their registered scope will face legal action as part of the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring transparency and protecting both consumers and the integrity of educational institutions.
