Mohamed Arkab Meets with Harbour Energy Director: British Company Expresses Interest in Investing in Algeria’s Energy Sector

ALGIERS- Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, convened with Linda Cook, the Director General of the British company Harbour Energy, on Wednesday, according to an official statement from the ministry.
The discussions centered on bolstering and expanding cooperation and investment opportunities in the energy sector, particularly in hydrocarbon exploration, as well as the exploitation and development of natural gas fields in collaboration with Sonatrach, the Algerian state-owned oil and gas company.
Both parties stressed the significance of exchanging expertise and technology between Sonatrach and Harbour Energy, and establishing mutually beneficial partnerships both within Algeria and internationally, with a specific focus on Sonatrach’s strategy to enhance its presence in global markets, particularly in Africa.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the potential for cooperation and substantial investment opportunities in the oil and gas industries, along with efforts to mitigate gas emissions, implement carbon capture and storage technologies, and reduce carbon footprint.
Arkab and Ms. Cook exchanged views and analyses on the global hydrocarbon market and the significant developments influencing the oil and gas sectors.
Ms. Cook expressed Harbour Energy’s strong interest in Algeria’s energy sector and its commitment to “identifying tangible projects in the hydrocarbon sector in Algeria, capitalizing on the favorable investment climate.”
The discussions highlighted the mutual interest in exploring avenues for collaboration and investment in Algeria’s energy sector, leveraging the country’s abundant natural resources and expertise. Additionally, the meeting emphasized the potential for technological innovation and sustainable development initiatives within Algeria’s oil and gas industry.
