In an exclusive interview with Dzair Tube, Bouzembrak highlights dynamic cooperation, unveiling promising investment opportunities in agriculture, renewable energy, and industry, backed by Spanish regional and governmental support.
Algiers, Algeria | April 27th, 2025 — In an exclusive statement to Dzair Tube, Mohamed Bouzembrak, the Economic Representative of the Spanish Regions in Algeria, revealed the growing momentum of Spanish investments in Algeria, emphasizing that 17 Spanish economic regions are currently active across various sectors of the Algerian market.
Speaking on Dzair Tube’s program “Special Interview,” Bouzembrak detailed the diversified expertise of the Spanish regions, noting that southern Spanish provinces focus primarily on agriculture, leveraging their climatic and technical advantages, while northern regions are heavily invested in industrial activities.
Bouzembrak explained that his central mission is to facilitate access to the Algerian market for Spanish businesses by organizing meetings with Algerian economic operators. Through his direct mediation, Algerian investors are introduced to Spanish potential partners, enhancing opportunities for meaningful collaborations.
Further elaborating, Bouzembrak highlighted that his efforts extend to assisting Algerian investors in discovering investment potentials in Spain, arranging meetings with Spanish counterparts and even offering sponsored travel opportunities to participate in specialized business forums and exhibitions.
The economic representative stressed the immense investment potential that Algeria offers, particularly in sectors like agriculture and renewable energy. He cited the strong interest of southern Spanish provinces in Algeria’s agricultural sector, especially in areas like greenhouse farming and advanced irrigation techniques. Additionally, he emphasized the vast opportunities in renewable energy, pointing to Algeria’s promising landscape for solar energy projects.
Bouzembrak underscored the critical role of economic events and international exhibitions in boosting bilateral cooperation. He referred to Algeria’s flagship events such as Batimatec (Construction Fair) and SIPSA (Agriculture Fair), where Spanish companies maintain a robust presence. Conversely, Spanish regions also host major exhibitions like IFEMA Madrid, actively inviting not only exhibitors but also Algerian business visitors, providing them with travel and accommodation support.
In a notable success story, Bouzembrak revealed that earlier this month, he organized the participation of nine Algerian companies specializing in building materials and chemicals at an economic exhibition in Valencia, which led to the signing of a strategic agreement to establish a factory in Algeria between an Algerian and a Spanish company.
On the logistical side, Bouzembrak explained that Algerian investors benefit from comprehensive support services, including detailed lists of Spanish suppliers and manufacturers, and travel facilitation without the prior requirement of an already signed partnership contract — an essential advantage encouraging spontaneous and exploratory business missions.
Highlighting renewable energy as a top priority sector, Bouzembrak pointed to Spanish company GFM, already active across several African countries, which specializes in using solar technology to extract underground water. GFM is now preparing to invest in Algeria with European financing, and is currently finalizing the selection of an Algerian partner among those it has recently engaged with.
Bouzembrak concluded by praising Algeria’s evolving investment climate, attributing the progress to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision and the national policy of investment facilitation, notably through initiatives led by the National Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), which is opening new horizons for bilateral Algerian-Spanish partnerships.
