ALGIERS- The recent public appearance of Mohammed VI, the King of Morocco, has raised concerns about his ability to govern the country effectively in light of his ongoing battle with sarcoidosis. This autoimmune disease primarily affects the lungs and lymph nodes, and can lead to symptoms such as weight loss, breathing difficulty, and severe fatigue. These symptoms have already taken a toll on the physical appearance of the monarch, and could potentially hinder his ability to govern with the same vigor as before.
Despite his reduced public appearances, King Mohammed VI has demonstrated a desire to remain engaged in the affairs of the country. However, concerns about his long-term ability to govern persist. Sarcoidosis is a serious disease that requires careful management, and while around half of cases resolve spontaneously within three years, the other half continue to fight the disease well beyond that time.
As such, the condition of Mohammed VI raises legitimate questions about his ability to carry out his duties with the same cadence as before!
