Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine Accuses Authorities of Detaining One of Its Members Due to Supportive Posts for Gaza

ALGIERS- The Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization strongly denounced the arrest of one of its members, Abdelrahmane Zankadh, by Moroccan authorities. Zankadh was apprehended and is currently facing legal proceedings for expressing his condemnation of the government’s lack of action regarding the Gaza genocide in his online posts.
In a press statement, The Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization expressed profound surprise upon learning of Abdelrahmane Zankadh’s arrest by security authorities in Mohammedia. The arrest was due to Zankadh’s solidarity messages with Gaza and his outspoken criticism of the brutal warfare impacting the Palestinian population since October 7. The Front highlighted that such actions by the authorities constitute a clear violation of digital freedom of expression, as enshrined in national legislation and relevant international agreements.
The Front urged the security and judicial authorities in Mohammedia to promptly release Zankadh in compliance with domestic laws and international treaties pertaining to digital freedom of expression. Additionally, it called upon all concerned parties to escalate efforts in combating violations against digital freedom of expression and safeguarding fundamental rights, liberties, and achievements.
The Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization in Mohammedia reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with Zankadh and all individuals engaged in advocating for digital freedom of expression.
