Moroccan Government Urged to Explain Continued Destruction of Agricultural Products in Spain, Attempted Arson of Warehouses

ALGIERS- The parliamentary group of the Moroccan “Progress and Socialist Party” has directed a written inquiry to the Minister of Industry and Trade in the Moroccan government, Ryad Mezzour, regarding the alarming trend of destruction of Moroccan agricultural products in Spain and recent attempts to set fire to warehouses.
The group highlighted reports from local Spanish media concerning an incident in which a warehouse containing Moroccan fruits and vegetables in El Ejido, Almeria, Spain, was targeted by individuals attempting to set it ablaze. Inside the warehouse were several migrant workers, including Moroccans, as well as others from Spain and various nationalities, posing a grave risk to their safety and lives.
This incident is not an isolated one. Similar events have occurred in the past, where Moroccan agricultural products have been either destroyed or damaged by European farmers. Such actions have raised serious concerns among Moroccan professionals about their health and the significant financial losses incurred due to these reprehensible practices.
The parliamentary group has raised questions to the Ministry of Trade regarding the effective measures it has taken or intends to take to protect and facilitate the entry of Moroccan agricultural products into the European market. Additionally, they inquired about efforts to halt the attacks targeting Moroccan professionals, goods, and products. They also seek necessary assurances to protect Moroccan professionals and their products, defending them and safeguarding Morocco’s interests and reputation.
