Moroccan Journalist Badr Laidoudi Calls for Withdrawal of “Chairman of El-Quds Committee” Status from King Mohammed VI Over Netanyahu’s Visit

ALGIERS-In a fervent and resolute plea, the prominent Moroccan journalist and relentless opposition activist, Badr Laidoudi, has issued a compelling demand for the immediate withdrawal of King Mohammed VI’s status as “Chairman of EL-Quds Committee” in light of the deeply contentious invitation extended to Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a visit to Morocco. This audacious move has ignited a firestorm of outrage among numerous Moroccans, resonating with the sentiment that now is the moment for the international community to take unwavering and definitive action in unequivocal support of the just Palestinian cause. With a clarion call for solidarity and justice, Laidoudi implores world leaders to reevaluate their stance and demonstrate genuine commitment to safeguarding the rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Badr Laidoudi’s concerns were expressed in a video appearance on his YouTube channel, where he emphasized the need for objectivity, even in times of ideological differences. He urged fellow Moroccans and the Arab world at large to strip King Mohammed VI of his chairmanship and empower other parties that have shown unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause and actively defended it against all odds. The activist stressed that there is no room for appeasement or concessions when it comes to dealing with the Zionist entity.
Drawing attention to growing voices of dissent in the region, Badr Laidoudi highlighted Algeria’s Ennahda movement and scholars in Mauritania who have vocalized their objections to the Moroccan leadership’s actions. The Ennahda movement, in particular, called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to withdraw El-Quds Committee’s presidency from King Mohammed VI due to his recent foray into normalization with the Zionist occupation, which directly contradicts the Committee’s mission to protect El-Quds and its sacred sites.
The journalist also asserted that King Mohammed VI’s invitation to Netanyahu is not only a diplomatic misstep but also an insult to the historical institution of the “Emirate of the Believers,” which the Moroccan monarch inherited from his ancestors. Badr Laidoudi urged Islamic scholars and organizations, including the Islamic Cooperation, to intervene and withdraw the Chairman status from King Mohammed VI, citing the importance of preserving Muslim sanctities and unequivocally supporting the Palestinian cause.
The situation has exacerbated regional tensions, with the Makhzen regime’ dubious alliance with the Zionist entity raising concerns about Morocco’ sovereignty. Critics argue that such an alliance has left the regime vulnerable to blackmail and concessions, jeopardizing Morocco’s national security and independence.
In these critical times, the international community must pay heed to the calls for action voiced by activists like Badr Laidoudi and the Ennahda movement. As the Palestinian people continue to suffer, it is imperative for nations and organizations to stand firmly in support of their cause, ensuring that the ideals of justice, peace, and preservation of sacred sites remain at the forefront of diplomatic engagements.
The call to withdraw the “Chairman of El-Quds Committee” status from King Mohammed VI is a plea for principled action and solidarity with the oppressed, transcending political divides and focusing on human rights and dignity. It is time for leaders to show their commitment to justice and demonstrate that appeasement with oppressors will not be tolerated. Only through collective effort can we hope to bring about a just and lasting resolution to the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
