ALGIERS- In a scathing critique of the Moroccan authorities, Dounia Filali, a prominent opposition journalist and activist, has raised alarming concerns over the appointment of a Zionist military attaché to Rabat. Filali has accused the Moroccan elites of turning a blind eye to this development, urging them to rise up against what she perceives as an alarming shift in the nation’s foreign policy.

In a powerful intervention on her YouTube channel, Filali questioned whether Morocco was moving from a French protectorate to a Zionist one, in light of the Zionist entity’s response to the Makhzen’s demands regarding the recognition of the “Moroccanity of the Sahara.” The activist expressed deep disappointment with the silence of the elites, political parties, free press, and jurists in the country, alleging that their collusion with the Makhzen against the Moroccan people and their nation amounted to a betrayal.

Filali issued a stark warning that the choices made by the Makhzen regime, particularly its perceived submission to the Zionist entity, would have grave consequences for the Moroccan people in the near future and in the years to come. She called on the people of Morocco to recognize the potential ramifications of the current situation, urging them to hold the regime accountable for its actions.

One of the most concerning aspects highlighted by Filali is the audacity of the Zionist entity to announce the appointment of a military attaché to its embassy in Rabat without any official confirmation from Moroccan authorities. This, according to her, raises serious questions about the intentions and loyalties of those in power.

In the midst of the controversy, Filali expressed skepticism about the regime’s motives, suspecting that the Makhzen sought to conceal the appointment of the Zionist military attaché by linking it to the Zionist entity’s recognition of the “Moroccanity of the Sahara.” This tactic, she believes, was employed to portray the move as “Zionist support” for the regime, thus discouraging any opposition by branding it as an act of rejecting Morocco’s territorial integrity.

Drawing historical parallels, Filali likened the acceptance of the Zionist military attaché to Morocco as occupation or protection, reminiscent of colonial France appointing General Lyautey to assert control over the Moroccan regime, not the interests of the Moroccan people.

Amidst growing speculation, Filali questioned whether the request for “protection” from the Zionist entity was initiated by King Mohammed VI or the Makhzen regime. She argued that the lack of transparency surrounding this crucial decision was a cause for concern and demanded that the truth be revealed to the Moroccan public.

Denouncing the silence and collusion of the elites, Filali called for soul-searching among army officers, urging them not to intertwine the issue with that of Western Sahara. She emphasized the importance of separating the two matters to avoid furthering the Makhzen’s agenda.

In conclusion, the Moroccan opposition activist fervently appealed for the empowerment of the Moroccan people, granting them the right to participate in a referendum concerning the appointment of the Zionist military attaché and the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Zionist entity. Filali’s passionate call for action serves as a wake-up call to the nation’s elites to stand up against decisions that may compromise the country’ sovereignty and the interests of its people.
