ALGIERS- August 22, 2023- In a surprising turn of events, Morocco’s malicious diplomatic endeavors to prevent the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) from participating in the upcoming BRICS-Africa summit have ended in defeat, underscoring the growing international support for the Saharawi people’s right to self-determination. Despite Morocco’s desperate attempts to sideline the SADR, the unity and principles of the BRICS group have prevailed, allowing the Saharawi president’s presence at the summit to be secured thanks to South Africa’s efforts.

Moroccan Diplomatic Maneuvers Fail to Sway BRICS Nations

The diplomatic showdown unfolded in the lead-up to the BRICS-Africa summit, as Morocco made a last-ditch effort to rally select members within the BRICS group to oppose the participation of the SADR. India and Brazil were specifically targeted by Morocco in its bid to isolate the Saharawi cause. However, Morocco’s maneuvering failed to sway these nations, revealing the solid commitment of BRICS members to making decisions based on consensus and the collective interests of the group.

Unity Prevails: BRICS Decisions Remain Unanimous

The BRICS group, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has consistently emphasized the importance of unity and mutual cooperation in its decision-making process. The unanimous decision to include the Saharawi president in the BRICS-Africa summit not only showcases the strength of BRICS principles but also underscores the growing international consensus on supporting the rights and aspirations of the Saharawi people.

In conclusion, Morocco’s efforts to prevent the participation of the Saharawi president at the BRICS-Africa summit have culminated in a significant defeat for its diplomatic endeavors. The unwavering commitment of BRICS nations to consensus-based decision-making has prevailed, demonstrating the group’s unity and principles. As the Saharawi president’s presence is secured at the summit, it is clear that the international community’ support for the Saharawi people’s rights is growing stronger, making it imperative for all stakeholders to work toward a just and lasting resolution of the Western Sahara conflict.
