ALGIERS- Moroccan human rights activists are gearing up to submit a petition to the Moroccan government calling for an end to normalization with the Zionist entity. This move, expected to be backed by around 10,000 citizen signatures, was announced in a statement from the Moroccan Observatory Against Normalization, a non-governmental organization, on Saturday.

The statement emphasized that the petition aims to continue the Moroccan public’s rejection of normalization with the criminal entity, urging the expulsion of the Zionist liaison office in Rabat and the official and final cancellation of all agreements. This step comes in response to the resumption of diplomatic relations between Morocco and the Zionist entity in December 2020, facilitated by the United States, a move that faced opposition from various sectors of Moroccan society.

The Observatory’s statement noted that the petition committee, led by Captain Abdelrahman Ben Amro, has formally requested a meeting at the government’s official headquarters in Rabat to present the petition, which has garnered substantial support from citizens across different cities.

The petition aligns with ongoing popular activities in Morocco opposing normalization with the Zionist entity and demanding the expulsion of the Zionist liaison office. These actions are conducted in solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank, and the entirety of Palestine, particularly in the face of Zionist aggression.

As of the latest update, approximately 10,000 citizens have signed the petition, which is expected to be submitted formally in the near future. The Moroccan government, as per the regulations governing such petitions, will then decide whether to accept or reject the demands presented.

The introduction of the Committee for Petitions in 2018 marked a mechanism for citizens to submit requests or proposals to the government, aiming for appropriate actions within the framework of respecting the provisions of the constitution and the law.
