ALGIERS- In one of the largest pro-Palestinian marches in Rabat since the outbreak of the ongoing war in Gaza, thousands of Moroccans took to the streets on Sunday, demanding an end to the normalization of relations between Morocco and the Zionist occupation.

The demonstrators expressed their condemnation of the genocidal massacres against the people of Gaza, denouncing the Arab and international silence regarding these crimes.

Waving Palestinian flags and holding banners with slogans such as “Resistance until Victory,” “Stop Moroccan Government’s Normalization with the Zionist Entity,” and “Free Palestine,” over ten thousand protesters marched along Mohammed V Avenue in the heart of the capital. The event was organized by the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and Opposing Normalization.

The march, the fourth national one in Morocco since the historic October 7th and Al-Aqsa Intifada, started from Bab El Ahad in the heart of the administrative capital. It traversed the areas of Post Square and Parliament Square, concluding its route at the train station. Notably, the demonstrators maintained their position at the endpoint, as announced by the organizing committee.

The Justice and Charity group, one of the organizers, stated on its website that the Moroccan people have spoken decisively, expressing their opinion not only on the Palestinian cause, deemed a national issue from immemorial time, but also on the current foreign intrusion named “normalization.” This rejection is resolute, reflecting the people’s disdain and condemnation of any association of their name and bright history with an illegitimate entity destined to disappear with the will of Allah Almighty.

Videos captured Moroccans carrying both their national flags and the Palestinian flag, passionately chanting slogans denouncing Israel’s ongoing aggression against Gaza.

Banners with messages such as “Gaza, Symbol of Dignity” and “Death to the Zionist Entity, the Enemy of Nations, Instigator of Wars” were prominently displayed. The protesters called for the annulment of agreements signed between the Moroccan regime and the Zionist entity, urging a complete boycott of all dealings with the occupier, whether economic or cultural. They called on the Moroccan people to boycott companies supporting the occupation.

The resounding chant throughout the demonstration was “Your Normalization Doesn’t Represent Us,” a direct reference to the normalization agreement signed by the Moroccan government with the Zionist regime. The protesters emphasized their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and their rejection of any ties with an occupying force that continues to violate international law and oppress the Palestinian people.
