ALGIERS- It is unacceptable for a journalist, such as Zeghileche, to use an ironic tone to belittle the success of Algeria by insinuating that even Mozambique is also a member of the Security Council. This type of behavior is a direct attack on the dignity of an African country, in this case, Mozambique, and the entire continent. Morocco’s actions are reminiscent of their former leader, Hassan II, who left the OAU with a disrespectful comment about certain African countries being under the spell of the Alaouite monarchy.
It is crucial for all nations to treat each other with respect and dignity, regardless of their political or economic status. Such behavior only serves to undermine the progress and unity of the African continent. It is imperative that Morocco and its leaders recognize the importance of diplomacy and mutual respect in international relations. The African continent deserves better than to be subjected to such disrespectful actions.
