ALGIERS- In a startling interview with the Echorouk News channel, Issou Abdelilah, a dissident officer from the Moroccan army, made controversial statements on the Moroccan royal family and its ties to the Mossad, the Zionist intelligence agency. According to Issou, the once-unified royal family is now embroiled in internal power struggles, with the Mossad reportedly exerting a significant influence on its members.
The Mossad’s Role
Issou Abdelilah contends that the Mossad’s involvement in the upbringing and training of members of the Moroccan royal family has steadily increased over the years, overshadowing the influence of local intelligence agencies such as Hammouchi. This purported infiltration, he stresses, began in the early years of the Mossad’s existence and has continued to this day.
Issou points to a particular incident in 1965 as evidence of the Mossad’s interference. The espionage operation on the Arab summit that year, according to him, resulted in the defeat of the Arab states in the 1967 war and highlighted the Mossad’s significant reach within the Moroccan establishment.
Internal Contradictions and Distrust
According to Issou, the internal contradictions within the Moroccan regime have intensified in recent years. Hammouchi’s intelligence apparatus, once trusted implicitly by the royal family, is reportedly facing dwindling trust from within. This erosion of confidence has led to the formation of special protection teams for the princes within the royal family, who are trained by the Mossad.
The rise of these protection teams, as claimed by Issou, signifies a shifting power dynamic within the Moroccan monarchy. It raises questions about the loyalty of various factions within the royal family and the extent to which external influences, such as those exerted by the Mossad, have come to play a role in internal affairs.
